More than 8% of the United States population has diabetes (25.8 million people). Almost 2 million new cases of diabetes are diagnosed each year. Of those 65 and older, 27 percent have diabetes.
Gestational diabetes ranges from 2% to 10% of pregnancies. Immediately after pregnancy, 5% to 10% of women with gestational diabetes are found to have diabetes. Women who have had gestational diabetes have a 35% to 60% chance of developing diabetes in the next 10–20 years.
Properly controlling carbohydrate intake is essential for successful diabetes management. SureCount is a simple carbohydrate counter that can help individuals make informed decisions at a glance. This exciting new product makes it easy for people who have diabetes and prediabetes to quickly know the amount of carbs they should be eating during meals and snacks.
Prediabetes is a condition in which individuals have blood glucose levels higher than normal but not high enough to be classified as diabetes. People with prediabetes have an increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Studies have shown that people with prediabetes who lose weight and increase their physical activity can prevent or delay Type 2 diabetes and in some cases return their blood glucose levels to normal.
Interventions to prevent or delay Type 2 diabetes can be feasible and cost-effective. Research has found that lifestyle interventions can be more cost-effective than medications.
- SureCount offers a unique tangible carbohydrate counter booklet that educates and supports individuals to make informed decisions regarding carbohydrate intake.
- SureCount is a tool that will help individuals on a low carb diet, including those with prediabetes, diabetes and gestational diabetes, successfully understand what foods contain carbohydrates and in what amounts, and use the information to manage carbohydrate intake.

Noted Heath Consultant Lisa Browdy of Health WithInsight, “If you have been diagnosed as diabetic, or pre-diabetic, it is empowering to know that the condition can often be managed with a proper diet. SureCount is a useful tool to help patients know exactly how many grams of carbohydrates are in the foods they probably already eat. It is durable, portable and easy to use — I would have found it very helpful when I had gestational diabetes years ago!
